Who is Kally U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow for?

Believe it or not, this comfortable pillow is for more than just pregnant women needing a better night's sleep. In fact, it’s for anyone who struggles with pain in their back, hips, or legs. This includes:

What do we use this product for?

Put simply, pregnancy pillows are designed to wrap around you and provide support – kind of like an extra pair of huggly love-and-comfort-bearing arms! We can use it for:

Features you should know about Kally U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow

Now that we know WHO this pillow is for and WHAT it can do, let’s take a closer look at HOW it can do all that!

Full-body support

Due to its ergonomic U-shape, this pillow will provide full-body support for you and your lovely baby bump. It's like having a big, cosy brace whenever you need it!

Whether you're sleeping on the side or resting on your back, this pillow will be there to provide support for your whole body, from top to bottom.

Hollowfibre fillings

Soft hollowfibre fillings ensure you get soft but springy support, which is important if you're going to adjust your position a few times during the night. Also, while not the most breathable material ever, hollowfibre filling prevents overheating up to a point.

Polycotton cover

Generously filled with soft hollowfibre, this pillow is also wrapped in a breathable cotton outer layer mixed with a little bit of polyester. So, polycotton.
We feel like it's safe to assume

Kally Sleep went with polycotton as it brings the best of both worlds – cotton's breathability and polyester's durability.

Machine-washable

As we all know, accidents happen. And when they do, you'll be happy to know that this pillow is machine-washable. Just pop the entire pillow in the washer, set the temperature at 40°C and let your washing machine do its job!

Or, if you'd rather just wash the cover – you can do that, too. Just make sure you wash it with the whites and keep the temps low. 30°C for the cover only.

Hypoallergenic

If you have any allergies, you'll be glad to know that this pillow is hypoallergenic. No itchy eyes or sneezing fits in sight. The entire pillow's anti-allergy treated, from the cover to the fillings.

Medium firmness

To ensure the best compatibility with different types of sleepers, Kally went with medium firmness for this pillow. Not too soft, not too firm – just enough to give you enough back support and give the baby bump the crucial support it needs.

Multi-purpose

After it's served its baby-bracing purpose, this pillow can easily become a nursing pillow or a regular pillow, for reading or watching TV in bed.

Just plump it up, set it any way you want and enjoy the extra bit of comfort!

In addition, the Kally U-Shaped Pillow is also very beneficial if you're struggling with pain or discomfort due to conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia or even just general soreness.

Review of Kally U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow

our reviewer sleeping with Review of Kally U-Shaped Pillow

Now, before we get any further we must disclose that none of us over here at the TSA headquarters were pregnant at the time of testing. So, does that put a little bit of a damper on our findings? Maybe, but we still think we did a pretty good job testing the Kally Body pillow.

Overall, we find this pillow to be pretty darn comfortable. It's like being a little spoon, only better, because you're also a big spoon at the same time. It's a funny feeling, but a super comfortable one.
As far as full-body support goes, the U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow really hits the mark. We didn't have any trouble finding a sleeping position that was comfortable for us, whether we were sleeping on our side or just lounging on the back, snugly cradled by the pillow browsing the web.

The downside

Now, there's one thing that kind of has to be addressed and that is head and neck support and comfort. While we're sure there are a lot of folks that will find this pillow supportive and cosy, we're also sure there are equally as many people that won't.

It's kind of tall and also quite firm around the U-section. Also, there isn't a lot of wiggle room when it comes to getting your neck in just the right position. So, if you're looking for a pillow that will give you perfect neck support, this is not the one.

Also, a lot of folks have experienced torn stitching in this particular area. We haven't, but this wasn't an isolated case, so that's something to keep in mind.

Overall, if you want your hips, lower back, knees, and most notably, your baby bump to stay supported and cosy throughout the night, this pillow will not disappoint. In fact, it will quite likely become your new best bud.

But, if you're looking for a pillow to support your knees and your neck at the same time – you're probably better off with a regular and a knee pillow.
And oh, it comes in two colours – if that’s important to you.

What we like about Kally U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow

What we don’t like about Kally U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow

The common problems with Kally U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow & how to solve them

While you can't do anything about the stiff U-section, you can try flipping the U-shaped cushion upside down and using a different pillow for your head. But, you'll soon realise this only works if you're tiny.

Also, many have deemed the pillowcase to be flimsy. Our advice is to either buy a different pillowcase if you can find one that fits well.

As for the ripped seams, we hope you don't experience this, but if you do, reach out to customer service and see if they could help you out in some way.

Check the alternatives to Kally U-Shaped Pillow

Let's take a look at an alternative U-shaped option.

Bbhugme Organic Pregnancy Body Pillow

Product image of Bbhugme Organic Pregnancy Body Pillow.

Super easy to tailor to your exact needs, the Bbhugme Pregnancy body pillow is an excellent alternative.

Not only is this pillow developed with the help of Scandinavian health professionals, but it is also made from certified and tested fabrics and materials. So, you can rest assured that there are no nasties in this pillow.

As for the filling, it's Biofoam beads that should easily contour to your body, providing support and comfort where you need it most.

However, as we're sure you've noticed, this also isn't a very budget-friendly pregnancy pillow. So, if keeping the price low is important for you, there are better pregnancy pillows on the market.

Advantages

Organic & eco-friendly
Made of organic cotton, free of chemicals.
an icon depicting that the product is supportive
Perfect balance of firmness & support
Perfectly balanced for optimal support & firmness.
An icon depicting a man with pain in back
Good for back pain
A lot of pregnant moms will no longer suffer from back pain.

Disadvantages

Price tag
Some people found it to be more expensive than similar products.

What makes this product better than some other similar ones?

All things considered, one thing that separates Kally U-Shaped Pillow from the competition is probably the price tag. Compared to some other, similar pillows, you can quite often get a really good deal on this pillow. Also, it's far snugger compared to similar pillows, making it much better for back pain.

How did we test the product?

An image of a The Sleep Advisors reviewer during the Kally U-Shaped Pillow testing

Over here at the Sleep Advisors testing facility, we take our job seriously. All of our tests consist of:

  • Visual inspection
  • Hands-on inspection
  • Measured tests.

What do we mean by that? Well, let's explain how we test the breathability of a pillow.

Is Kally U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow eco-friendly or sustainable?

While there are many that use recycled bottles or any other kind of recycled plastic to produce their synthetic fillings such as hollowfibre, Kally Sleep doesn't seem to do that. While there is no official information on the hollowfibre origin, we would assume that it's not recycled since that's the kind of stuff you usually share with your customers.

Overall, the pillow's not too bad for the environment. It's fully recyclable, it's multi-purposed so you won't just toss it away after a few months of use and, of course, it doesn't contain any harmful materials.

Overall impressions of the product after the testing

All in all, we can't say we were disappointed. But this is far from the perfect pregnancy pillow.
While the pillow did offer the needed support and was super comfy below the neckline, we couldn't say the same for the neck and head.

Also, there is a chance that you might experience some quality issues with the stitching and the pillowcase, as several people have. So, keep that in mind.
But, the pillow kind of performed the way it's intended to, so, props for that.

Overall, we'd give this one a 8.5 out of 10. But after reading our Kally U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow review, what do you think? Let us know in the comments!

FAQs about your Kally U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow

Before we sign off, let's just answer a few of the FAQs that we didn't cover in our Kally U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow review.

Which is better U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow or a C-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow?

Generally speaking, U-shaped pillows should be able to provide better back support, but other than that – it's a matter of personal preference.

When should you start using a U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow?

Most pregnant ladies start around the 20th week, but you can start whenever you feel the need to.

Why should women sleep with body pillows between their legs?

This position is known to increase blood flow to the uterus and takes the pressure off of the liver. Also, if you've experienced hip or back pain during pregnancy, placing a pillow between your knees while you sleep might help alleviate that discomfort.
