THE SIMBATEX FOAM MATTRESS IS NOW DISCONTINUED – HIT THE LINKS TO SEE THE LATEST IN THE SIMBA RANGE | In this Simbatex foam mattress review, we're going to take a good look at this foam mattress and gauge how it compares to other foam mattresses currently on the market.

Who is the Simbatex foam mattress for?

When it comes to foam mattresses, comfort is the number one priority. On top of that, this Simba mattress also has really good thermal regulation and stress relief. Therefore, it's the perfect choice for you if you're:

  • A hot sleeper
  • In need of pain/stress relief
  • A side or back sleeper.

What do we use this product for?

With Simba mattresses in general, the breathability and comfort of their products is the biggest selling point. And with the Simbatex foam mattress in particular, you'd want it for the following reasons:

  • To combat any joint or neck pain

Does the Simbatex foam mattress come in different versions?

If you're dying to get a Simbatex foam mattress but you want a more budget-friendly option, then the Simbatex Essential mattress might be the perfect choice for you.

Simbatex Essential foam mattress

With the Simbatex Essential foam mattress, you're getting most of the features that made the regular Simbatex foam mattress so great. The only thing being cut from the program is the third foam layer. However, it still offers:

Features you should know about the Simbatex foam mattress

Now that we've sung the praises of Simbatex and this memory foam mattress, it's time to take it apart and see what makes it so special. From the construction to the materials used, what makes the Simbatex foam mattress better than other memory foam mattresses?

An image of Simbatex foam mattress corner.

Anti-allergenic removable knitted cover

Starting from the top, we have the mattress cover. As it's anti-allergenic (or hypoallergenic), you won't have to worry about an allergic reaction from the cover or the graphite within the mattress during the night.

The fact that it's knitted means that it's a bit more durable and also puts some of Simba's craftsmanship on display – which is something you always want to see with higher-end mattresses.

And it being removable might sound like a minor detail but it actually makes your life a lot easier. This means that you can simply take the cover off and wash it in the washing machine without having to worry about causing damage to the mattress in any way. Plus, it's both quicker and easier than scrubbing a mattress down by hand.

Cooling and cushioning Simbatex comfort layer

There are a few key things to touch on with this foam layer. First off, it's CertiPUR foam, meaning that no harmful substances were used during its production – which is always good to know, especially if your pets/kids also sleep on the mattress.

Secondly, it provides substantial airflow, making temperature regulation a lot easier and ensuring you have a good night's sleep with minimal sweat.
In Simba's own words, it provides 30x more airflow than most memory foam mattresses, which is quite impressive if true.

Lastly, the Simbatex comfort layer is also infused with graphite. And the heat-absorbing graphite makes it so that any excess body heat easily passes through this layer, allowing you to stay cool.

Supportive Simba-response layer

This layer offers two main things. First off, it's an open cell foam layer, meaning that just like the previous two layers, it's very breathable.
However, it's also firmer than the previous two layers. So, it adds a bit of support to the mattress as a whole. It can't compete with something like a spring mattress, however, it does help to keep the foam mattress relatively firm.

Zoned, high density foam base

Although the supportive Simba-response layer helps, this is the layer that really gives the foam mattress its firmness. It's made out of a crenelated, high-density foam that allows the mattress to provide zoned pressure relief during the night.

And this is very important in the grand scheme of things. A traditional memory foam mattress might sound appealing, but the added stress relief will do wonders for your joints over the long run.
Plus, it gives the mattress a tad of edge support, so you don't have to worry about dips or falling out of bed during the night. It isn't as good as a spring or hybrid mattress, but it's still a good perk to have.

One year trial and ten year guarantee

A really good perk that you get when you buy a new Simba mattress is a one year trial. This means that you can feel a lot safer with your decision and get the best night's sleep without worrying about potential defects with the mattress.

And since it also comes with a ten year guarantee, this large, very inviting mattress feels like it's here to stay. This is why we're big fans of how Simba operates.

Review of the Simbatex foam mattress

simbatex-foam-mattress

Overall, this mattress has performed really well. However, it's definitely not for everyone.

The memory foam is of high quality, effectively adapting to your body shape and the heat-absorbing graphite layer adds some much-needed airflow throughout. The cover is also pretty sturdy, meaning that a mattress protector isn't necessary – which is always a big plus. And with it being a Simba mattress, the customer support is really high, with both a trial and a guarantee available.

However, the Simba mattress does also come with a few issues. Even though the high-density foam base offers a bit of firmness and support, it's still nowhere near a Simba hybrid mattress. So, the mattress itself might be too soft for stomach sleepers or sleepers who prefer a greater deal of support.

The common problems with the Simbatex foam mattress & how to solve them

The most common problem customers might have with this Simba mattress (or any of the foam Simba mattresses) is with the memory foam. Off-gassing will likely be an issue for the first few days, but don't let that discourage you. Just leave the mattress in a different room for a few days and everything should be fine. Not only does the off-gassing issue go away but the memory foam also gets to fully expand in that time.

Check the alternatives to the Simbatex foam mattress

If the Simbatex foam mattress doesn't seem like the perfect fit for you but you still want something similar, check our mattress comparison tool for other options. We suggest looking at other Simba mattresses. In particular, the Simba hybrid mattress, as it has all of the pros of the memory foam mattress while also covering up some of its weaknesses.

Simba Hybrid mattress

a product image of simba hybrid mattress

Just like its foam mattress counterpart, the Simba Hybrid mattress offers breathability through graphite and foam layers, but it also has an intricate spring system for added stability and firmness.

And just like all Simba mattresses, it also comes with a one year trial and a ten year guarantee. Make sure to compare Simba Hybrid and Simbatex Foam mattresses with our mattress comparison tool.

If you find this alternative an appealing, feel free to read our full review on Simba Hybrid mattress.

What makes this product better than some other similar ones?

Just like most Simba mattresses, this foam mattress perfected breathability. Through its complex layered structure, and its body heat-absorbing graphite, you can stay cool throughout the night. And unlike a Simba hybrid, this foam mattress presents an unparalleled level of comfort – with only the high-density foam base offering zoned pressure relief and support while the other three layers make you feel like you're sleeping on a cloud.

How did we test the product?

We've made a few claims in this Simbatex foam mattress review, so it only seems fair to explain exactly how we get to these conclusions. On the most fundamental level, all the products we review go through the following inspections:

An image of simbatex foam mattress covered with sheets.

And with the Simbatex foam mattress in particular, we did the following tests to see how it would perform over the long run:

Is the Simbatex foam mattress eco-friendly or sustainable?

Like most Simba mattresses, the Simbatex foam mattress is pretty admirable when it comes to being eco-friendly and sustainable. In fact, Simba Sleep as a whole has put in a lot of effort to make their brand eco-friendly:

So, if you do decide to get a Simbatex foam mattress or any other Simba mattress, you can rest assured that you're supporting an eco-friendly brand.

Overall impressions of the product after the testing

Overall, the Simbatex foam mattress has met our expectations. We experienced no issues with overheating, the mattress was very comfortable, and we slept quite peacefully. However, an all-foam mattress isn't for everyone, as we did feel a lack of support. We've found that it can't really offer the same kind of stability or edge support as a spring mattress or even most hybrid mattresses. It wasn't a complete deal-breaker but it's something you should keep in mind when considering this purchase.

FAQs about your Simbatex foam mattress

Does the mattress have off-gassing issues?

As is the case with any new mattress that has foam, you'll probably notice a strange smell for the first few nights. This is completely normal. Just leave it be for a few days and the smell will go away.

How do I clean the mattress?

Just remove the cover and wash at 40°C on a reduced spin cycle. Do not use chlorine bleach. Do not tumble dry, iron or dry clean.

Is this mattress good for stomach sleepers? Although some stomach sleepers may find this mattress perfectly comfortable, it's more tailored toward back and side sleepers. For stomach sleepers, we suggest looking for a firmer mattress.
