We use this product when we need a mattress that will give us great support. That’s the primary purpose, but certainly, the OTTY Pure + mattress has a lot more to offer. The breathable cover improves breathability in the memory foam layers. So, we would use this product for:

Is the OTTY Pure + an upgraded version of a previous product?

Yes, OTTY Pure + Hybrid Bamboo & Charcoal mattress is an upgraded version of an OTTY Pure Hybrid Bamboo & Charcoal mattress – the UK's first bamboo memory foam mattress according to many. These two products are relatively similar and the biggest difference is that the OTTY Pure + mattress has two layers of springs compared to the previous model which has only one layer of springs. Thanks to the additional layer of springs it will give you even better support. There is also one more charcoal layer and there is a small difference in the type of foam used for the base, although customers probably won't feel it.

The OTTY Pure + Hybrid Bamboo & Charcoal Premium mattress justifies the “premium” in its name due to its many features. It consists of 7 layers, and each plays an important role. The cover is comfortable and breathable, the bamboo and charcoal-infused layers handle the hygiene of this mattress, high-density foam, 4000 pocket springs and base foam are there to provide you with support, and firmness as well as to eliminate motion transfer.

All materials and substances used are hypoallergenic and in accordance with all regulations, both related to toxicity and fire hazard. Breathability is at a good level for a mattress that contains several layers of memory foam.

What we don’t like about the OTTY Pure + mattress

Obviously, not every mattress is going to be perfect for everyone, they will have some negatives depending on your preference. Here is what we were not too keen on:

• Although the design on top has its practicalities, it can be uncomfortable in certain positions – especially where OTTY has been embroidered in.
• Not all customers are willing to spend that much money on a mattress.
• There are no handles on the side or underneath, which makes it difficult to manoeuvre this mattress. Whether that is to rotate it or even when you are initially putting it into your bedroom.

The common problems with the OTTY Pure + & how to solve them

To be perfectly honest with you, we didn't really see any major issues that you need to solve with this one.

The only thing that you might “suffer” with is the cover is not easy to maintain. For hygiene reasons you will want to keep your mattress clean, so ideally you want it to have a removable cover that can be put in the washing machine. However, this one has a removable cover but it can only be spot cleaned or dry-cleaned which can be difficult to upkeep.

Thankfully, all you need to do is get a mattress protector (preferably a waterproof one) to keep your mattress clean and stain-free. When it comes to cleaning the mattress, you can take off the mattress protector and give that a wash instead. With the mattress protector, there should be no need for the mattress to get dirty.

Delivery – With OTTY you get free standard delivery with your order, and the option to upgrade that to a choice of four premium delivery. Depending on the level of delivery you are after, the cost will increase by £10 for each one – delivery to the room, unpacking and removing the packaging, removing an old mattress, or all of the previous options.

Payment – You can choose to pay by card payment, Amazon Pay, Apple Pay, PayPal and Google Pay.

Online customer service – The online support chat pops up in the corner of your screen without any prompt, making it easy to access. What makes this product better than some other similar ones?

OTTY Pure + Bamboo & Charcoal mattress has a lot that makes it better than many similar products. We would single out 4000 pocket springs, which is a significantly higher number of springs than most hybrid mattresses have. Also, being infused with bamboo and charcoal makes this mattress naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial, while moisture is not retained in it. Another thing is the cover that has memory foam in it, which is rare, but this makes the mattress extra comfy.

Is the OTTY Pure + mattress eco-friendly or sustainable?

OTTY state that the few mattresses that get returned in their trial period are cleaned before sending to charity or community projects so no mattress gets wasted. They will also take your older mattress away but it does come with a fee of £30. From what we could find out, there is not a lot of information on the sustainability of OTTY mattresses. There is a 10-year warranty so you can be confident that the mattress will last and you will not have to swap your mattress out every few years.

In terms of the hybrid mattress, it uses sustainable materials as we previously mentioned with the use of bamboo and charcoal.

So, in short, they are reducing the amount of waste from their company but not necessarily making changes to their products.

How did we test the product?

You get what you pay for, and with this mattress, you get both the quality and health benefits of the materials (including the bamboo and charcoal memory foam), great support from top to bottom, motion isolation, pressure relief, and more than decent breathability. And, all of that with a 100-night trial period and 10-year limited warranty.

With both comfort and support achieved in this one mattress, it ticks many of the boxes people are after.
