And this is mostly due to the construction. Unlike many sleeping bags, even higher-end models, the Leviathan utilises duck down instead of polyester or microfibre. And this decision makes it top-of-the-class for winter. While most sleeping bags have a set comfort level of around 2-0 degrees Celsius, the Leviathan is all the way down at -9 degrees.
And that's just the ideal temperature, as it can comfortably go down to even -16 degrees. Plus, the bag itself is very fluffy, which adds some comfort. And it's pretty large, so even taller adventurers can stay warm and comfortable. It also has some other benefits, like inner pockets and neck baffles, but we don't think we have to praise this sleeping bag any more than we already have. It's the winter king!
We've already featured the Basalt double sleeping bag in our original ranking but the single is definitely better for people who want the bag for themselves. That being said, it's still rather spacious when compared to similar models at 225×80 cm. Plus, even though its price is below 100 pounds, the quality is comparable to most higher-end models.
It was specially treated to combat all types of nasty odours and the cotton flannel lining is very nice to the touch. And even though the bag might seem thin, you can use it for a lot longer than just a single season due to the Coletherm® filling. And it also comes with some nice additional features such as a non-snagging zipper and an inner pocket.
In terms of design, we think it's a safe bet that most kids would prefer this sleeping bag over the usual monochrome model. Just look at all those monkeys! Plus, when compressed, the bag looks like a very cute backpack. However, when it comes to sleeping bags, design is second to performance.
Luckily, this sleeping bag is pretty solid on that front as well. With a hollow fibre filling and a 3-season rating, it should get your kids through most camping trips! The fact that the sleeping bag is also rather inexpensive is just a bonus.
When it comes to Vango sleeping bags, Go Outdoors has quite a few models. In fact, our last entry is also from Vango! And as you'll see with the Selena King, this is because they utilise extremely high-quality materials and an innovative approach when it comes to design.
For example, the Selene King might just seem like a regular oversized sleeping bag. However, even with its size, its lower threshold is at a whopping -20 degrees! This is because it utilises a cotton-polyester blend for the construction, insulated zip baffles, a cotton flannel lining and a double-layer insulation system. All of these features when combined lead not only to a very warm sleeping bag but a very comfortable one as well.
Having a lightweight sleeping bag is a blessing if you're going mountain climbing or camping for long periods of time. After all, the longer you have to lug it around, the more your back will resent you for it. But with the Ultralite Pro, you're in good hands!
This is because this sleeping bag focuses on keeping your natural body heat within the bag through specially-made air channels. On top of that, the outer layer is made from nylon Polair Active, which can be easily compressed and offers some much-needed resistance to water and tear damage.
Plus, this sleeping bag has features that you rarely see among competitors. For example, it does away with the main issue of most mummy sleeping bags by designing more foot space. And the hood is made so that it can perfectly cover your head and shoulders without giving way to cold spots. When combined, all of these features make this sleeping bag both extremely light and tough to beat in terms of quality.
Now that we've picked out all of our favourites, we'd like to briefly touch on how we made our decision. Firstly, if you want an in-depth explanation of what makes a sleeping bag amazing, we suggest reading our original best sleeping bag ranking. There we go over everything from the different materials and shapes to the temperature ratings. But, in short, here are some features that made these five stand out.
If you want to stay safe and comfortable while on your camping trip, you need a good sleeping bag. Regardless of whether it's winter or summer, whether you're going alone or with a partner – you need proper gear. So, check out these Go Outdoors sleeping bags and have the best camping trip ever!
