Standard earplugs are to help those who have trouble sleeping or getting to sleep. These earbuds from QuietOn are no different. They are a sleeping aid to block out any noise for those who like to sleep in silence. You may have difficulty due to your partner snoring or the outside world. So, putting an earplug in your ear could be what youβre looking for.
To summarise, these earbuds are for:
We briefly touched on this but of course, theyβre used as noise-cancelling headphones to cancel out the background noise. They reduce any noises that might usually keep you up at night or the noises throughout the night that wake you up. The QuietOn Earbuds cancel out lower-frequency noises.
So, it can be used for:
With the general design of these earbuds, there arenβt many features to pick out and explain. However, there are a few that we think are worth mentioning and could sway your decision. Some of them are what makes these particular earbuds unique, compared to their alternatives.
With these earbuds, you will receive three other foam tips so you can find the ones that fit your ear the best. They come fitted with the small size, however, youβll see clear packets for the other sizes. The tips come in extra small, medium and large as well. The size range is very wide so youβre likely to have one of them that fits you.
it is essential to get the right size for your ear canal so they sit flush and can reduce as much noise as possible. If they are too small, sound will get around and if they're too big then they won't be snug to the ear which also allows noise to pass through. Try out each size before committing to one set. Youβll definitely notice the difference when you pick the right set for your ear size. Once you have a snug fit, you will feel the benefit of the noise cancellation.
The QuietOn Earbuds have an active noise cancelling technology that automatically switches on once the earbud has been placed in your ear. After around 20 seconds, it switches from the hearing mode to noise cancellation. Itβs as simple as that. There are no added complication to get them to work.
We mentioned it sitting flush in your ear and this is where the slim design helps too. It is crafted to sit between the tragus, antitragus and crus of helix. These are the surrounding areas of the ear canal. It is also designed to have a flat surface so it doesnβt stick out of your ear either. This means those who sleep on their side can continue to without the earbuds getting in the way.
When I received the product, I liked the simplicity of the packaging and how easy everything was to find. You could clearly see where the instructions were, the different earbud tips and the charging cable. The packaging reflects the simplistic look of the actual product.
Then it was time to start putting the product to the test. The first step was finding what tips fit my ear size best. I could instantly tell which ones wouldnβt and narrowed it down to a couple of the sizes. It was fairly easy for me to pick the right ones, however, if youβre still stuck between two then itβs worth trying them both out for a couple nights each. Once youβve given them a test run, you can see which set gave you better sleep.
To compare these earbuds to other alternatives on the market, I found that theyβre much smaller than Apple AirPods and therefore a lot more comfortable to sleep with – especially for someone who mainly sleeps on their side. The negative to it is not being able to listen to music properly, like you can with AirPods.
In comparison to ordinary silicone earplugs or foam earplugs, those do the bare minimum whereas the QuietOn uses smart technology to block out the noises that matter.
Thereβs always something to like about popular products and we can see why people enjoy using these earbuds. We have picked out a few of the selling points and why you would like them too. Here they are:
Of course, youβre not going to please everyone and earplugs arenβt everyoneβs cup of tea. So, we have come up with a few things that might not make you want to get them. You can weigh up the points to see if theyβre for you.
DeliveryΒ β The delivery can take around 6-9 business days in total. It can take 2-3 days to process the order and 4-6 days for it to be shipped. Shipping is free on orders over Β£50 so the earbuds will be covered in that.
Payment β The standard payments are available on QuietOn as well as PayPal. If you find the price to be too much for one payment then you can use Klarna to split the cost over a few months.
Online customer serviceΒ β Β For any general questions, there's an FAQ page that should have most things you could be looking for. If not, there's a contact page with a form to fill out or an email for you to send to them directly. There is an online chat but this just works with the questions on the FAQ page so it's worth dropping them an email with other enquiries.
One of the main selling points of these earbuds is that they have a sleek design. They have been created in a way that keeps them slim so theyβre comfortable for every type of sleeper. The way they sit in your ear has been carefully crafted unlike any other. This leads to the other point that makes it better than others and thatβs side sleepers being able to use the product too. They wonβt feel any different in your ear if youβre lying on your side or lying on your back.
Not only that, they are more precise with the noise it cancels out. It blocks the lower-frequency noises that usually keep you up or wake you during the night. They use a microphone to pick up the sound and cancel it out.
Now we'd like to discuss exactly how we test our products. After all, how can you trust our opinion on quality earplugs if you don't know how we got there? The basic level of testing that all the products we review go through are:
And when it comes to the QuietOn Earbuds, in particular, these are the exact tests conducted to gauge their performance and quality:
As someone who likes to go to sleep with some noise, I wasnβt sure how I would feel about these earbuds. I usually sleep with music or a podcast playing but these donβt have an option for that. Although on the packaging it says βchoose a noisy environment to get started. Put some background music on!β So this made it seem as though you could still listen to music with the earbuds in.
After trying them out at night, I found they dulled down lower noises so they almost werenβt there. Like snoring or traffic, but not so much for higher frequencies. This did mean I could listen to some music whilst wearing them. However, you canβt play it just for you which isnβt ideal if you share a room with someone who doesnβt like noise. And donβt worry, they still allowed me to hear my alarm in the morning so you wonβt miss your alarm for work. These earbuds are cleverly designed to block out unwanted sounds over the natural ones that help you sleep.
In summary, there are no relaxing sounds with it and you can't stream music, nor does it leave you in complete silence. Its purpose is to quiet down noisy environments such as traffic noise or train noise so you can fall asleep naturally.
Many sleep aids use white noise or soothing sounds to block out the noise which isn't for everyone. Whereas, QuietOn noise-cancelling earbuds cancel out the surrounding noise. Whether these earbuds are for you or not is a personal preference, depending on what helps you to sleep.

They reduce the unwanted sound by adding in another sound that is able to cancel it out. It uses a microphone to take a sample of the sound and a speaker that takes the sound to create a phase-shifted sound. This new sound cancels out the original sound.
Noise > microphone picks up the noise > QuietOn processes > anti-noise wave > noise cancellation
The battery life per charge is around 28 hours which is enough for 3-4 nights of good sleep.
