The warmest duvet of the Wool Room Chatsworth collection, the wool duvet is a perfect option for people who often feel cold at night or struggle to keep warm during winter. Overall, it's a great choice for:
Everyone knows that you'd use a duvet to snuggle and get a great night's sleep. But this one in particular brings a bit more to the table. We can use to:
We've mentioned briefly that this duvet is not your ordinary duvet. Here's what we meant by that.
Hand-crafted only from the finest and softest traceable British wool, this wool duvet is entirely natural. Even the casing's 100% natural as it's 100% cotton.
And since it's all traceable, you can rest assured there's no funny business or animal abuse going on!
Wool is generally known for being an amazing insulator. And when a duvet has a TOG this high, you can rest assured you'll stay cosy even during the coldest winter nights.
Another upside of wool is how it deals with moisture. Wool naturally wicks away moisture, keeping you dry and comfortable.
And this is incredibly important if you're a hot sleeper and tend to sweat a lot!
Sneezing up a storm in the middle of the night can lead to a lot of frustration!
However, since this duvet uses natural materials, you don't have to worry about any flare-ups.
That is unless you're allergic to wool.
So, we've established that Chatsworth Wool Duvet is great for people who suffer from allergies or respiratory issues and that it's also a fantastic choice for those sleeping cold. Or, at least that's what the main features are all about. Now, let's talk performance.
First up, the unbleached 200TC organic cotton cover feels great. It isn't anything super special, but then again, these aren't separate sheets and duvet covers, so you can't quite expect 300 threads woven into an inch.
One thing that you'll notice straight away is how snuggly, yet light the duvet feels. The 100% wool filling definitely contributes to that. And, when we say “light”, we don't mean it in the most literal sense as this duvet can reach almost 10 pounds, but it really feels like you're not being weighed down by a lot of material.
As we've mentioned, this duvet is quite warm, but not too toasty. The fully traceable soft British Wool brings a lot to the plate in terms of temperature regulation, so you won't wake up feeling like you're in a sauna.
To be fair, once you snuggle underneath you will feel like it might get too hot, but you'll soon feel the duvet adjust to your body's temperature, keeping you nice and cosy.
Other than that, it was a good duvet. The wool filling stayed in place and didn't shift around and we didn't have any issues with it being lumpy. The weight was really well-distributed, so we can assure you it won't feel heavy in places and empty in others, and it also won't slip down from the bed during the night..
Of course, the duvet is not without its drawbacks. While it is very temperature regulating, that doesn't mean it won't make you sweat if you tend to get hot at night or if you try and use this year-round. But, that one's kind of a given, isn't it?
If you don't end up enjoying this duvet, you have a 30-night trial to fall back on
A very well-made product built to last for many nights. To add a few more to the tally, we don't advise tumble drying A hypoallergenic duvet like this should help you sleep sniffle and sneeze-free.
The price tag will definitely chase some potential customers away
It looks thin and cold. Thankfully, that's just how it looks
You won't be able to sleep under this one if you prefer a warm bedroom.
One thing to note is that this one does not come with a duvet cover or a removable outer cover, and while it is absolutely fine to wash this duvet on a delicate cycle in your machine if you're looking for an extra layer of protection from stains or just regular wear and tear, you might want to consider getting a duvet cover.
It's an inexpensive way to prolong the life of your duvet, and we truly feel like you should do it.
There aren't many duvets that are similar or comparable to this one, but that's a good thing. If you'd like to stay away from natural materials (maybe you're vegan and you don't care for using wool), we have an alternative for you.
The OTTY Deluxe Microfibre duvet is a great alternative to the Deluxe Washable Wool Duvet. It is made of synthetic materials, so it is vegan-friendly and does not contain any wool.
It is also lightweight and breathable, well, more than the Chatsworth.
Still slightly heavier and warmer for the summer though. After all, you are looking at a 13.5 TOG duvet.
Overall, the OTTY Deluxe Microfibre Duvet is a great duvet, and not just for those looking for a good alternative to the Deluxe Washable Wool Duvet.

Well, if there's one thing that makes the Chatsworth Wool Duvet better than similar products it's the Allergy UK certificate. While wool is naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites, few other wool duvets on the UK market are proud to boast an Allergy UK certificate.
And if you do suffer from allergies, that kind of peace of mind is priceless!
We take our inspection and testing process very seriously. And, while the process itself sometimes seems “simple” – it's not. It's just well-thought-out and done numerous times.
Here's how we go about testing duvets:
For greater clarity, this is how we test the durability of a duvet:
In terms of eco-friendliness and sustainability, the verdict is good.
Wool is a sustainable fibre. It's easy to produce, it's renewable, it's biodegradable, and if sheared correctly, it's even kind to sheep.
Eco-friendliness depends on sheep farms though. Thankfully, in this case, the wool is “grown” at the Chatsworth Estate, which is home to carefree, well-taken-care-of sheep.
What's not so great is the cotton. While it is organic and good for the end user, cotton production is not good for the planet itself, because it requires a lot of water.
To conclude, the Chatsworth Deluxe Washable Wool Duvet is a good, eco-friendly and sustainable product, but there's always room for improvement.
All in all, this is a very good product. There were no visual signs of wear and tear after the testing, and the duvet held up well to both the washing machine and the dryer. The fillings didn't bunch up or clump, and they were evenly distributed throughout the duvet.
Manufacturing claims were nothing short of the truth, and we were very happy with how it performed.
To summarise, we believe that the Chatsworth Deluxe Washable Wool Duvet is a super-quality product and would recommend it to anyone in the market for comfortable sleep and a new, warm winter duvet.
A 9 out of 10!
