The biggest selling point for the Emma topper is its sleep tech qualities that cool down your body and offer better deep sleep. The Emma topper is also on the thicker side of things (at 9cm – compared to 6cm of the Flip Topper) and highly comfortable too. So, it's perfect for:
The most obvious use for this mattress topper is to combat the stuffiness that comes with an old mattress. The temperature regulation qualities on their own already make the Emma topper a good addition to any sleeping routine.
However, the topper is also thick and comfortable, meaning that it can add some softness to a stiff mattress and even provide pressure relief throughout the night. We can use it for:
We've already made a few claims about this mattress topper. Now it's time to dissect what makes it so great and see how all the features meld together to create a premium product.
Let's start things off with arguably the most impressive aspect of this mattress topper – the top layer of the topper, the graphite layer. Graphite is an excellent thermal regulator, allowing your body heat to quickly and easily disperse through the topper as you sleep. Plus, graphite is hypoallergenic, meaning that you don't have to worry about the graphite particles causing any type of rash or allergic reaction.
This graphite foam layer is what gives the Emma Premium Topper such a competitive edge. Its main purpose is to reduce overheating and to absorb any moisture so your mattress has less chance of sagging. And if you combine this topper with a good hybrid mattress you can rest assured that things will stay cool and comfortable.
Although not as flashy as the graphite foam layer, the comfort foam layer is still essential for this topper. The HRX foam allows for your body heat to pass through the topper smoothly and it provides pain and stress relief while you sleep. Because if you want a deeper sleep, not being in pain is a really good place to start.
This foam can be found in the Emma mattresses too so we know it serves a practical use for the performance of the product. It's pressure relieving whilst providing comfort and support.
Plus, the adaptive comfort foam can resolve a lot of discomfort if you have an old mattress that has lost its bounce long ago. So, even the HRX foam is essential to raise your sleep quality.
As we've seen with the first two layers, a key feature of this topper is its capability to disperse body heat. So, even the covers are made to be extremely breathable.
The Emma Diamond Degree topper cover offers additional plushness and thickness, softness and durability so you can get the extra comfort from the cover too.
And if that wasn't good enough, it's also a removable cover, meaning that getting things clean and fresh is as easy as it gets.
When buying a mattress or a mattress topper, trials and guarantees are always a sight for sore eyes. After all, most mattresses can be deceptive at a single glance. However, with such a generous trial period and a decade-long guarantee, getting Emma toppers doesn't feel like a risk, which most sleepers will be thankful for.
This certification means that every part of the mattress topper has been tested for harmful substances. That means that this product is completely safe for adults and children alike.
Plus, it means that the production of the Emma topper was done under sustainable socially responsible conditions – which is always a nice plus to have.
Overall, this mattress topper has been delightful. It's a bit expensive, but we think that it more than makes up for the price with its premium-level materials and effective design. In terms of temperature regulation, it has had an excellent performance, keeping things nice and cool even when the bed was placed in a stuffy room.
The memory foam offered sufficient support and stress relief.
In our experience, our deep sleep has been positively affected. There were no body aches upon waking up and no discomfort during the night.
Aspects like motion transfer and edge support were a bit more difficult to gauge, as those primarily rely on the mattress rather than the topper. However, when placed on an Emma mattress, things ran smoothly and the edge support was more than sufficient. Needless to say, Emma seems to be offering some premium-level products.
The most common problem people might have with the Emma topper is the lack of support. And the best way to solve this problem is to make sure you also have a good mattress underneath. Personally, I'd go for the NextGen hybrid mattress, as hybrid mattresses will keep things nice and cool while also adding some firmness through the box springs. Plus, if you're going for an Emma mattress, there's already a precedent for the level of quality you can expect.

What makes the Emma topper a game changer is its intricate layer design. It's built in a way where your body stays cool through the night and allows sleep to come easily. Both the foam and the graphite layers are also very soft, leading to a heightened comfort level as well.
Now we're going to explain a bit more about how we actually test our products. On the most fundamental level, all products go through the following inspections:
With the Emma topper, we wanted to test how well it worked with a variety of different mattresses. Between spring, foam, and hybrid mattresses, old mattresses, and brand new ones, here are the tests we did:
Although the Emma topper does sport an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, it doesn't seem to be doing much else in terms of green initiatives:
Aside from this, we were able to find next to nothing about Emma's green initiative. So, they could definitely do a lot better in this field.
Overall, the Emma topper was an amazing product as far as we're concerned. When paired with something like the Emma NextGen Mattress, we experienced a great deal of comfort and had no issues with overheating. And even when we didn't put it on the best mattress at hand, the results were satisfactory. Our only issue came about when placing it on a very firm or old mattress, as even the Emma topper can't salvage that situation.
The King size was big enough for all of our mattresses and the foam didn't have any major off-gassing issues. Finally, the cost, although on the more expensive side of things, didn't seem too egregious. Overall, testing went well and the Emma topper gets a golden star from us.
In case you missed some key information from our review, we have answered a few questions down below. This should finalise any queries you might have or need to know.
