When we talk about an all-cotton pillow, the first thing that comes to mind is comfort and breathability. And that's precisely what Gora pillow promises – a cool and comfortable and restful night's sleep.
With that in mind, Gora Pillow is for:
If you're tired of hearing about how a pillow's used for getting a “great night's sleep” and “waking up rejuvenated”, you'll be pleased to learn that you can use this product to:
What sets Urbanara's Gora pillow apart? Let's find out!
If you value and appreciate organic and natural materials, you'll be happy to know that Gora Pillow is made of 100% organic cotton.
The filling material and the shell are both organic and are sourced from sustainable and controlled organic farming.
No toxic pesticides or fertilizers were used in the production of this pillow, which is good news for both your and the planet's health.
You'll get 550 g (1.2 lbs) of cotton filling within this pillow and if you don't touch anything – you'll get a medium feel mid-to-high loft pillow that's more than suitable for back and side sleeping.
However, that's not where it ends.
If you're a stomach sleeper or you simply prefer resting your weary head on a soft, down-like cushion, you can easily remove the cotton filling and adjust the loft and firmness to your liking.
One thing to note is, if you do decide to do this, make sure you store the extra filling in a dry spot, away from dust and other household allergens.
To increase the loft – put the filling back in.
Since the entire pillow is crafted from cotton – it is machine washable. In other words, you won't have to go through the hassle of taking it to the dry cleaners or figuring out DIY hacks to remove a stain.
You may wash it in its entirety or just toss the removable cover in the washer – either way's fine. Just pop it in your washing machine, set the temperature at 40°C and the cycle to gentle and let it air dry once you're done.
Don't bleach, tumble dry, iron or dry clean the pillow.
GOTS, or Global Organic Textile Standard, is the most recognized certification in the world when it comes to organic textile products.
This voluntary certification guarantees that the product you're buying is made of at least 70% organic fibres and that the entire manufacturing process meets environmental, processing, packaging, labelling and other standards.
It's one thing to list the features and another to see them in action. So, here's how the pillow performed.
First things first, we have to give credit where credit is due. The Gora pillow was one of the cosiest pillows we've ever tried and tested. It proved to be almost perfect for side sleepers as it provides ample support for the head and neck, without being too sturdy or stiff.
It made sure your head sank into it, so you can feel nice and cosy, but at the same time – it kept it in an optimal position.
The pillow is also very responsive and bouncy, which is kind of expected from an all-cotton pillow. Nevertheless, if you're one of those that switch sleeping positions during the night, this pillow will easily keep up with you. This also means you won't have to slap it 10 times in the morning to plump it up. It'll grow back on its own.
Finally, the pillow does a great job of keeping things cool, even in pretty hot weather. All this cotton allows air to circulate freely, ensuring you don't have to flip the pillow over multiple times a night.
One thing to note is, even though you can remove the fillings to make the pillow softer and less plump, we'd suggest doing it gradually and testing it as you go.
While you can put the cotton back in, it's not as easy as taking it out. And, if you do a bad job – you'll likely end up with an uneven, lumpy pillow.
We're going to go out on a limb and say you wouldn't enjoy a lumpy pillow.
As we've mentioned, the main issue we've run into during our tests is putting the organic cotton filling back in. It's deceptively easy.
Restuffing the pillow takes time, patience, precision, and a bit of elbow grease. But, if you have enough time and patience on your hands, and you don't mind doing a mind-numbing meticulous job – this shouldn't bother you too much.
Everyone else – do as we said. Chip away the cotton gradually until you hit the sweet spot. It's easier that way.
If you'd like to further explore your options – here's one you might like.
Aeyla Dual Pillow brings a somewhat revolutionary design to the table. It's two pillows in one, which means you can easily tailor both the level of support, firmness, as well as the overall loft within seconds.
Pillow-in-pillow design is a great idea, in and out of itself. But, when you factor in the ability to pick and choose the loft right from the get-go, you get yourself a must-try pillow, just for the heck of it.
One thing we really love about the Gora pillow is how they've managed to hit a sweet spot in pretty much every relevant category.
Most pillows excel at a thing or two, but they often leave much to be desired elsewhere. Not this one, though.
The Gora pillow is both supportive and comfortable, it's adjustable to accommodate different sleeping styles, and it's also breathable to a very high degree.
An excellent all-rounder!
You wouldn't think this of an all-cotton product, but the Gora pillow is actually an eco-friendly and sustainable product. The pillow is made of 100% organic cotton, which is both biodegradable and renewable material. But that's not all.
Organic cotton is a sustainable and socially conscious material grown using environmentally friendly methods.
The growing of organic cotton uses 71% less water (since it's mostly rain-fed) and 62% less energy than the traditional cotton we see everywhere.
It also doesn't require the use of toxic pesticides or fertilizers which helps to protect local water systems and keep them healthy and clean.
So, yeah – this one shines bright green!

Overall, we can't find many (if any) things truly wrong with this one as far as performance goes.
As mentioned previously, this is a well-rounded product that's worth your attention.
We've experienced a perfect balance of support and comfort, it held up well under different sleeping positions, and it kept us cool and dry throughout the night.
The only thing we could find that might pose a problem to some is the price – and even that's not really a fair criticism since you get a solid value for money.
Overall, a solid 9 out of 10.
