We've tested and reviewed hundreds of these over the years, both to try and help you, but also to try and find the best one out there. Will the Nectar Bedding Set review get us closer to that answer? Probably not. But, the good news is, it is one of the most soothing bedding sets the UK has to offer. There's more to it than it meets the eye, and in our expert opinion, there is quite a lot to like about it. So, what do you say – should we dissect it?

Who is Nectar Bedding set for?

Nectar Bedding set is a very high-quality and comfortable bedding set that contains a fitted sheet, duvet cover and 2 pillowcases or one if you choose a Single size.

So, it will suit all those who want to have a bedding set, whether because they like sleeping on a fitted sheet and pillowcase or because their mattress, pillow or duvet do not have a removable and machine washable cover. The feeling when you put on a clean bed linen set is fantastic.

We use the Nectar Bedding set to sleep comfortably in a clean environment. If a pillow, duvet or mattress does not have a removable and machine washable cover, then using a bed linen set is the only way to sleep in a clean bed.

And even though they have machine washable covers, using a bedding set will reduce wear and tear and extend the service life of these products. A quality bedding set, such as the one offered by Nectar, is also cooling which is another important use.

Features you should know about Nectar Bedding set

The material used for the bedding set and thread count are the most important features, so we will say something more about it. Also, we will mention 2 pillowcases that you get as part of the Nectar Bedding set.

100% cotton/sateen

When buying bedding, cotton is definitely the material you will come across most often and there are many reasons why this is so. Most manufacturers opt for Egyptian cotton or sateen cotton. Egyptian cotton is a type of cotton, extra-long-staple cotton. It is very durable and breathable if you sleep hot. However, it should also keep you warm during very cold nights.

Cotton sateen, which was used for the Nectar Bedding set, on the other hand, is not a type of cotton but actually a different weave pattern. Cotton fibres are treated by being soaked in sodium hydroxide which gives the silky feel and sheen that sateen has. Cotton sateen bedding is smooth and soft and is, therefore, a favourite choice of many customers and is often used in luxury hotels.

300 thread count

Thread count is a measure of the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric. To put it more simply, this is actually an indicator of how tightly woven a piece of fabric is, usually types of cotton and bamboo. The number lengthwise and widthwise is added and so we get the thread count.

300 thread count means that it is high-quality cotton sateen and the range of high-quality cotton sateen is between 200 and 600. A higher thread count usually leads to a higher price, but you should know that this is not the only indicator of quality. You will not feel the difference between 300 and 400 thread count, and the price will be very different.

And if you see, for example, 900 thread count, know that it's probably poor quality and that it's actually some trick from the manufacturer and not some luxury product.

2x pillowcases

Pillowcases are often the most important part of a bedding set because your face is more sensitive than the rest of your body and that is why you want your pillowcases to be of very high quality. In this bedding set, you get two pieces of pillowcases, except when you buy a Single size, then you get one pillowcase. Pillowcases are great, as is the rest of this bedding set so you find them soft, comfortable and breathable. And of course machine washable.

What we like about the Nectar Bedding set

• Sheets are not deep fitted which some customers may not like. They will fit a Nectar mattress though.

The common problems with Nectar Bedding set & how to solve them

There aren't many problems with this bedding set as it is of high quality. The only thing that could be improved is the range of sizes and colours. And maybe some people would like the sheets to be deep-fitted, but that's not a big problem as they will still fit any mattress perfectly.

What makes this product better than some other similar ones?

We really liked the Nectar Bedding set overall, so there are a few things we would single out as things that make this product better than some other similar ones.

First of all, it is the quality of workmanship. Also softness, breathability and cooling properties. Another thing that should be added is that it is not that expensive for a full bed linen set. Also, the subdued style will match all bed frames and all sorts of bedrooms.

How did we test the product?

The ordering process is relatively similar whether you order a mattress, pillow or bedding set. The same can be said for shipping policy. Free shipping is included in the price, as well as a return and 2-year warranty. After a few days, you will receive a set, and you can opt for no contact delivery and then the delivery man will just leave the package in front of your door.

The Nectar Bedding set came in a transparent plastic bag, which is not very eco-friendly, but the bag is reusable which is good. The bedding set is compressed to take up as little space as possible. When we opened the sealed bag, we did not feel off-gassing, although the specific smell of the new product was slightly present, so it is best to wash everything before use. We did so. After washing, the whole set is very soft and looks pleasant. We immediately put it on our pillow, duvet and mattress. Everything was a great fit with Nectar products and should match products from other manufacturers in that size, too.

The overnight test went great as we were very comfortable sleeping using this bedding set. It is comfortable and soft and also cooling. Hot sleepers will also find this set very pleasant, although they can find bedding sets on the UK market that are even more cooling than this one.

Is Nectar Bedding set eco-friendly or sustainable?

While cotton is biodegradable and recyclable – it is far from being either eco-friendly or sustainable.

The typical process of farming, harvesting, and processing cotton uses large amounts of water (in some cases up to 20,000 litres per 1 kg of cotton) and energy as well as harmful pesticides and chemicals.

With all that in mind, you can't say that Nectar Bedding set is eco-friendly or sustainable.

Overall impressions of the product after the testing

Nectar Bedding set is a great choice if you are looking for a luxurious feel and look without spending too much money. With a 300 thread count, cotton sateen weave and a smooth, soft feel, this bedding set will give you a great night's sleep. The only downside is that it is only available in one colour. But other than that, we would definitely recommend it.

This one has certainly met our expectations and then some! We were a bit hesitant at first, because usually when something claims to be “crisp and cool” it doesn't quite pan out that way – but we're happy to report that the Nectar Bedding set really does keep you cool and comfortable all night long.

Overall, a 9 out of 10. Simple, effective, good-looking. All we ever asked for!
