At first glance, this mid-loft pillow looks like it would be great for all sleepers. However, simply judging the pillow based on its loft is not what we do here at the Sleep Advisors headquarters.
After extensive and detailed testing, we've concluded that the Superior Comfort is for:
Relyon and Dunlopillo were formerly part of the same group, and have since gone their separate ways. Relyon has retained the rights to produce the popular pillow from back in the day, using the same specs and latex produced by Dunlopillo. In other words, the Superior Comfort Pillow is the very same product as Dunlopillo Pillows Serenity Deluxe; only a different brand name is used.
Latex pillows are becoming increasingly popular as people learn more about the benefits of latex. So, what makes this one most popular?
Natural latex is known for being both comfortable and breathable. This pillow features a 100% natural latex core which makes it perfect for hot sleepers as it doesn't retain heat.
In this case, we have a solid, 10 cm block of latex, rather than the shredded latex that is often used in pillows. This gives the pillow a bouncier feel, in addition to excellent support, anti-allergenic properties, airflow and progressive comfort.
Since you'll want to avoid soaking your latex pillow in water, a machine-washable cover is always a great idea.
Even though the Superior Comfort Pillow is hypoallergenic for healthier sleep, the removable 100% cotton cover which can be washed at 40 degrees Celsius in any washing machine is a welcome addition.
Cotton's natural absorbency will help to keep the pillow feeling fresh, while the breathable properties of the fabric will allow hot air to escape keeping you cool and fresh all night long.
One of the greatest advantages of latex is that it's a very springy and bouncy material. This pillow will instantly mould to the shape of your head and neck, offering not only exemplary support but also instant pressure relief whether it's neck or shoulder pain you're dealing with.
The pillow will also adjust to your movements throughout the night, so you'll always be comfortable no matter how much you toss and turn.
The essence of natural latex lies in its micro air bubbles. Not only do these microscopic holes make the latex more comfortable, but they also promote optimal airflow.
As ventilation is key for hot sleepers, the Superior Comfort Pillow is a great choice for those who often find themselves waking up in a pool of their own sweat.
While 5 years may not seem like a long time when it comes to a sleep product warranty, it's honestly quite rare to find a pillow with a 5-year warranty.
This not only speaks volumes about the quality of the product but also shows that Relyon is confident in its pillow and is willing to stand behind it.
Now, for Relyon Superior Comfort Slim Latex Pillow review.
First of all, calling this a “slim” pillow is not something we'd do. At 10 cm, this is a mid-loft pillow, so not quite slim or low loft. However, this doesn't take away from the fact that it's an excellent pillow.
As is often the case with medium latex pillows, we found this one presents great pressure relief. Thanks to the natural properties of latex, this is a responsive boy that will adjust to your movements throughout the night, delivering much-needed support, comfort and optimal spinal alignment, in addition to excellent pressure relief. So, in this department, it definitely ticks all the boxes.
In terms of breathability, the Superior Comfort Pillow also does a great job. Unlike memory foam pillows, latex stays cool and doesn't retain heat. This, in combination with the natural micro air bubble structure of latex, makes for a pillow that's perfect for hot sleepers.
We also really like the cotton cover. Not only is it machine-washable, but it's also very elegant and soft to the touch. A truly lovely sleeping surface.
All in all, this is a very good, very comfortable, very durable pillow, ideal for all sleepers that run hot during the night.
If you're not sold on the “Slim” – here's a keen alternative.
As you can tell by the name, this one is deeper and, therefore, also tailored towards side sleepers' good nights' sleep.
Other than the overall size, there are no significant or structural differences between these two.
Both utilise the same latex, both come with cotton covers, and both encourage healthy blood supply to your neck and head muscles so you wake up feeling rested, refreshed and rejuvenated.
The only difference? This one's noticeably firmer.
What makes this one offer a great night's sleep is the latex itself.
For a long time, Dunlopillo latex has been used in the manufacture of mattresses and other sleep products because of its unrivalled quality. Since Relyon is relying (pun intended) on that exact same latex, you can be sure that their pillows will provide you with the same level of comfort and support as the famed Dunlopillo pillows did.
As you'd imagine, testing a pillow is a bit different than testing, say, a mattress. However, over here at the Sleep Advisors testing establishment, we have a strict process that we always follow.
To make things clearer, here's how we would (and did) go about testing the bounce and responsiveness of a pillow:
Latex is one of the world's most sustainable materials. It comes from the sap of rubber trees, which are tapped in a way that doesn't harm the tree. So, not only are trees not cut down – they're not even damaged.
As for eco-friendliness, latex also scores very, very high. It's biodegradable, which is very important in the current climate crisis. On top of that, rubber trees are a renewable source, so that's another plus.
Couple that with Relyon's strict environmental policy, and you've got a winner in the sustainability department.
All in all, we're very pleased with the Superior Comfort Slim Latex Pillow.
It's a splendid choice for all sleepers who are looking for a bouncy, comfy, supportive, pressure and pain-relieving and eco-friendly pillow. It also comes with a neat cotton pillowcase, which is always a bonus in our book.
The only downside is the price, but all things considered – we think this is a price worth paying.
Overall, we'd give this one an eight out of ten.
Yes. A natural latex pillow is the best pillow for allergy sufferers.
Yes it is. It's mid-loft which works for most people and their sleep position.
The latex core can be wiped clean, and the removable pillowcase can be washed in any washing machine at 40°C.
