What we like about the Simba Essential Mattress Topper
There's a lot to like about the Hybrid Essential Topper as it does exactly what a mattress topper should do. It's a condensed version of their mattresses so you can expect the best parts on a smaller scale. Here are just a few of the things I found that improved the feel of the existing mattress.
- When removing the packaging of the topper, I was impressed with how quick it was to expand and breathe into shape. There's no waiting around forever to be able to sleep on it – you can sleep on it the same day. Of course, the longer you can leave it, the better it will feel to lie on.
- As a combination sleeper, I can fidget a lot throughout the night and that's why I liked that the Simba topper was quite quick to bounce back to its original shape. Every time you move position, it adapts with you to keep moulded to your body and stays supportive.
- The design of the Essential Mattress Topper has been thought out to give you a practical additional layer. Some mattress toppers will slide on the mattress if you move in the night. However, this one from Simba has a textured base fabric to reduce the chance of movement. It also has elasticated straps on each corner which can stretch more than most other mattress toppers I have tried. Even if you own a deep mattress, there’s no stress about the topper not sitting nicely on top.

- Out of all the sleeping positions, I predominantly sleep on my side and I found that it wasn't the most comfortable topper for that. However, if the mattress underneath can provide you with enough support then you'll feel the benefits of the topper too. After trialling it out, it seems as though it's better suited for those who sleep on their back or front.
- It's quite expensive for a topper, especially when compared with other alternatives. There are definitely cheaper ones that you can look to see if it does the job you're after.
