The cover is removable and machine washable. Cover can become dirty in matter of just few days, so it needs to be washed often, and you can wash this cover at 60 C, which is fantastic, because it will be completely clean. Polyester covers can usually only be washed at 40 degrees C. Remember to wash it inside out with the zipper closed and avoid tumble dry.

What we like about the Tempur the Original pillow

Common problems with the Tempur Original pillow & how to solve them
One common problem is unsuitable loft for stomach sleepers and there is nothing you can do about it. If the loft does not suit you, you simply have to look for another product.
One more common problem is heat retention. This is a characteristic problem of practically all pillows whose core consists of a single block of memory foam. This one is moulded from Tempur material, which is memory foam. Again it is very difficult to solve this problem. We believe that most people won't even notice it, but hot sleepers definitely will. Tempur Original pillow arrives nicely packed in a branded box. The box has a hole in it, which means that the pillow is ventilated all the time, so the off-gassing is barely noticeable.
Although it is completely clear that it is not suitable for stomach sleepers, the stomach sleeper from our test team tried it, just to make sure that it is completely unsuitable for that sleeping position. Overnight test was conducted by side and back sleeper, who after testing said all the best about this pillow. They were very satisfied with the performance, and the only small complaint was breathability.
We removed the cover and washed in the washing machine at 60 degrees C. We were unsure whether it would really come out of the washing machine in the same shape or size, as it is rather hot for a polyester cover. However everything went great and we easily put the cover back on the pillow. We can’t say it’s uncomfortably hot, but it certainly retains heat more than hot sleepers would like.
Is Tempur Original pillow eco-friendly or sustainable?
In terms of eco-friendliness and sustainability, Tempur Original pillow is far from perfect. It is made of memory foam and encased in polyester cover. Both materials are very low on the sustainability scale. There is no information on whether polyester is virgin, which would make the situation even worse.
Since it is made in Denmark, we have no doubt that they followed all the laws and regulations, which certainly reduced the harmful effect. You can also buy TEMPUR-FIT™ Ergonomic pillowcase which is 100% cotton and thus sustainable and eco-friendly.
Overall impressions of the product after the testing
In our opinion, if you are a side or back sleeper looking for an ergonomic pillow, you won't find much better than this one. Tempur is a legendary company that has maintained its reputation for decades. The pillow is high quality and durable, you can even see it with the naked eye.
Top notch support and pressure relief can help you get rid of stubborn neck pain. It is only important that you choose the appropriate size. It is hypoallergenic and comes with a machine washable cover, which are also advantages. We believe that all these positive features will outweigh the problems with breathability and heat retention.
