Features you should know about the ChillingQ Pillow
There are a few features to this pillow that make it unique with its design and cooling properties. The features of this pillow are certainly worth mentioning as they are different to other products I have trialled and it's impressive with what they achieve with simple features.
Foam cooling pad
This is the gel inside the pillow that is used to keep you cool. The cooling pad is the most important feature of the pillow – it's what gives it its name. The purpose of the foam pad is to stop you from having hot flushes and keep you cooler through the night. It gives an instant cooling sensation so you can almost immediately cool down.
Bluedott
While this may seem like a random button on the pillow with no real purpose (as I did to begin with). It then became clear that it is used to keep the pillowcase in place. Not only that, it's in that place to allow your head to be cradled by the pillow and supported from all angles. It means you can sink deeper into the pillow and feel as much of the coolness as possible.
Removable foam
It allows you to change the height of the pillow for a higher or lower loft depending on how you sleep. I found that there was a noticeable difference between keeping the foam insert and removing it. If you want a softer feel pillow then you can take it out, but those wanting something a bit firmer can put the foam back.
After trying it out, I would recommend taking out the memory foam piece for front and back sleepers to make it a lower loft. Those who are side sleepers are more likely to want to keep it in. To be honest, the design can be a little confusing when you first use it but there is a manual included which will definitely help.
Review of the ChillingQ Pillow
The ChillingQ Pillow has a very clever design in many ways. Firstly, the adjustable inserts are really useful to suit everyone's sleep position (as mentioned above). Secondly, the curved edges of the pillow create the perfect space for your shoulder to rest – particularly for those who sleep on their side. The ergonomic design is then continued into the centre of the pillow where you'll find a groove. This is the ideal shape for you to place your head and feel it cocoon for a cosy feel. No matter your sleep position, you'll experience the same feeling.
Now, on to the smaller details. I liked the button fastening in the centre of the ChillingQ Pillow because it's great for keeping the cover in place. At first, I was a little confused by it but then its purpose became clearer. Using the blue button is their way of reinforcing the design that allows your head to sink down and feel cocooned from every angle. It's a good detail to ensure you feel all the benefits of the cooling pad too.
Lastly, we loved the packaging of the pillow. The pillow comes vacuum-packed into a small box. It's also wrapped in the user manual so you can clearly see how to get started with the product and immediately become aware of how it works. The manual includes specifications, design features, instructions, warranty, care instructions, what's included and contact information. Everything you could possibly need is very obviously given to you. You'll be left with no confusion afterwards.

What we like about the ChillingQ Pillow
There's a lot to like about this pillow but it might not be to everyone's taste. However, we have picked out the things that we liked the most to give you a better idea of the product and our experience with it.
- We liked that the pillow is lined even when you remove the cover. There's a ‘second skin' to it so even if you put it in the wash to be cleaned, you can still use the pillow temporarily without a cover if needed. That's another good thing about this pillow, the pillowcase can be put in the washing machine to keep it clean. You'll find the instructions for this included in the packaging.
- The pillow comes well-packaged. On the box packaging, you can easily find the features, materials, care instructions, size and contact information. Inside the box is a leaflet with the quote “Sleep care for those you love: Don't just wish them sweet dreams, send them sweet dreams”. This is a cute added touch, as well as the generous voucher code and freebie too.
- We previously mentioned the adjustable design and it is one of the things we liked about this pillow. You can remove or keep the insert to suit your sleep style, so it can work for all sleep positions.
What we didnβt like about the ChillingQ Pillow
A lot of the dislikes of this pillow come down to personal preferences. All-in-all it's a great product with many great features, but it can't be suitable for everyone. Here are a few things we found that could be deal-breakers:
- First up is the zipper. The pillow comes with a zipper on the front which is quite unusual. Not only that, it also makes it difficult to remove when needed. The zip placement isn't the only issue for removing the cover. It is also made difficult as it is very tight fitting to the actual pillow. I found that it is doable but will take a bit of a squeeze to do it.
- Personally, as someone who gets cold most of the time, a pillow that is instantly cooling is a bit much for me. However, I can imagine it is amazing for those who sleep hot. This pillow isn't temperature regulating so it isn't working with your body temperature throughout the night.

Is the ChillingQ Pillow eco-friendly or sustainable?
While it isn't the most eco-friendly pillow or uses completely sustainable materials, it is still better than some of the other options on the market.
This pillow uses bio-based memory foam which is a lot better for the environment and ticks the sustainability box. It also has a pillowcase made partly from bamboo fibre. So, it's a good effort from them and could be worse, but improvements could be made.
How did we test the product?
Now we'd like to discuss exactly how we test our products. After all, how can you trust our opinion on quality pillows if you don't know how we got there? On a basic level, all the products we review go through these three tests:

Overall impressions of the product after the testing
While testing the pillow, I found that there was slight off-gassing when I initially opened the product but this is definitely very minimal in comparison to other memory foam products. I have tried out other memory foam pillows which give off a stronger smell that takes longer to air out.
Off-gassing aside, this is THE most cooling pillow I have ever tested. Many other alternatives tend to stay cool for a short period and then wear off. However, this one had a lasting coolness to it. The only downside to this is that it isn't temperature regulating. Where most pillows cool you down when needed and then remain neutral, this one just stays cool for a long time. It's a great pillow for the Summer when every night is a lot warmer or for those who are hot sleepers and consistently hot throughout the night. We wouldn't recommend it for those who sleep cold night after night.

Yes, you can. However, we wouldn't recommend it to get the full benefits of the pillow. One unique thing about this pillow is the groove in the centre for your head. This won't work as well with your own pillowcase because it won't fit snugly.
